Joseph The Dreamer

We’ll be taking today’s Bible reading from the book of Genesis 37:5-11

And I read:
Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers,

They hated him yet the more.

He said to them;

“Please, listen to this dream I had:

We were binding sheaves of grain in the field when suddenly my sheaf arose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it."

His brothers said to him,

"Do you intend to reign over us? Will you actually rule us?"

And they hated him all the more because of his dream and what he had said.

Then he had another dream, and he told it to his brothers, and he said:

"I had another dream, and this time, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars bowed down to me."

When he told his father as well as his brothers,

His father rebuked him and said,

"What is this dream you had? Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow down to the ground before you?"

And his brothers envied him,

But his father observed and kept the matter in mind.

The people closest to you may be the first to talk you out of your dreams.

People will call you unrealistic.

And mostly give you 26,288 reasons why your dream won’t see the light of day. Yes. And it’s because you’ll probably hear them say it over and over again.

It doesn't mean your dream isn't valid.

Just like a woman is pregnant with a child, so also are we all pregrant with visions and dreams, waiting to be brought to life.

Well the only difference is that our tummies don’t grow bigger. Our dreams live in our hearts.

But what I'm trying to say is…

Deception will arise against your dreams and aspirations.

And it mostly comes in two ways -

From your own self-limiting thoughts,

And from such naysayers who try to talk down your dreams.

But either the kind that comes from within; Or that which cometh from external sources;

The bottom line is…

Accepting deception is to deflate your own faith.

And without Faith, being a victim of deceit is inevitable.

And with your acceptance of deception, you silence your dreams even before their voices echo in the world.

You've seen the vision. You've seen and can see your dreams right?

But they aren't seeing what you're seeing!

So why fret at their blind opinion?

Keep calm like Joe. Remain confident like he was.
