CTDA Submits Grant Application to IMLS for CARES Funding
Our grant application preposes to create a digital collections training program for institutions in Connecticut impacted by COVID-19. Cultural heritage workers who participate in the program will be paid a stipend to take part in the training course. The stipend is intended to help people to continue to work or get back to work in order learn new skills that will help them and their institutions well into the future, after we all emerge into the new normal.
The digital collections training program is designed to be a 6 month course that will touch on all aspects of digital collection building, from selection, digitization, adding content to the CTDA, and building digital exhibits and experiences with a number of digital storytelling platforms. Any programing we create as part of this project will also be open and freely available to anyone interested in working with digital collections in the CTDA.
As part of the grant, we propose to hire a Digital Collections Outreach Manager, who will create and implement the training courses. We will also be working with the CLHO to review the current state of participating institutions’ digital collections in order to craft an individualized “road map” for each organization. The “road map” will help institutions set their digital collection goals that will continue after the funding period is over.
If successful, we anticipate the program will begin in September 2020. We hope to hear back in a month to six weeks about the status of our application.
